2015年2月8日放送のJFN系列のラジオ番組『有吉弘行のSUNDAY NIGHT DREAMER』(毎週日 20:00 - 21:55)にて、お笑い芸人・有吉弘行が、ネットニュースの記事を書くライターを名乗るリスナーからのメールをきっかけに、ライターの仕事の実態についてコメントしていた。
リスナーメール：有吉さん、いつも聴いてます。テレビもオート録画で漏らさず観ております。よくいるファンであり、ライターをやっております。ラジオの内容を安易に記事にするという件ですが、なんとなく申し訳なく感じておりまして、投稿いたします。
ご存知の通り、私らフリーランスのライターは、原稿を数千円で書き、後にアクセス数がある一定以上だと、インセンティブが発生。逆に、アクセス数がなければ、仕事が振られない、という業態でございます。
タイトルや内容は、刺激的なものでなければダメ出しされ、それに慣れています。長らく紙媒体でやっておりましたが、ネット媒体には、出版社名を背負って良識を問われることがないため、歯止めを掛ける編集者がいないところが大きく違うと感じています。
有吉さんの記事は書けません。ラジオがつまらなくなったらイヤだし。どうでも良い人は、面白おかしくサクサク書けるから良いです。
